Mariah Carey is a “high-maintenance” diva – and she’s not ashamed to admit it.
In a new interview, the global superstar said the often-used description of her behaviour is absolutely true – and that she’s earned the right after a tough childhood and years of hard work.
The article in The Guardian referenced an episode of MTV Cribs in which Carey apparently explained she had a chaise longue in her kitchen because “I have a rule against sitting up straight”, and previous comments about bathing in milk.

It comes following the release of Carey’s new memoir The Meaning Of Mariah Carey, in which she writes about her difficulties at home growing up and racist bullying she endured when she was young.
Asked if she thinks she is high-maintenance, the singer replied: “You know what? I don’t give a sh*t. I f****** am high-maintenance because I deserve to be at this point.
“That may sound arrogant, but I hope you frame it within the context of coming from nothing.
“If I can’t be high-maintenance after working my ass off my entire life, oh, I’m sorry – I didn’t realise we all had to be low-maintenance. Hell, no!
“I was always high-maintenance, it’s just I didn’t have anyone to do the maintenance when I was growing up!”
The star laughed when asked if she minds being called a diva.

“No! Who the f*** cares?” she replied. “Honestly! ‘Oh my God, they’re calling me a diva – I think I’m going to cry!’
“You think in the grand scheme of things in my life that really matters to me, being called a diva? I am, b*tches, that’s right!”
